It is time to fly . . .

Last year my word was "embrace," as I knew many changes would be coming my way in 2015 and I knew I'd need some additional support in welcoming them without hesitation.  Selling a home and buying another (and moving!) was finally on the calendar, as was some big changes at work for both Raleigh and I, along with some relationship issues that I had delayed facing for far too long.  The waiting was over; it was time to take action and move through the "scary".

Since even the thought of the upcoming changes made my stomach turn and my mind come up with a million delay tactics (each one fully justified, of course), I wanted to choose a word to support me in standing strong and walking through each one with grace, dignity, courage, and with as much genuine excitement as I could muster.  I didn't want to fight/resist them all and make things harder for myself (some of the changes were clearly inevitable), and hence "embrace" came to be.

Throughout the year I struggled here and there for sure, yet in the end, found myself heading into 2016 with most of those changes behind me, and in retrospect, see that (even if not at first), I (eventually) embraced each one.  Success!

Still, 2015 was stressful, chaotic, and for the most part, overwhelming!

This year I want more peace, more time to enjoy my family (a much shorter commute should dramatically help on that front!), more love and joy, more ease in the day-to-day living (sounds silly to some, but some days, I want to go back to bed at 10a and start over!).  I want to fly high and truly live the life I have created abundantly, without reservation or self-imposed limitations.

And that where my inspiration/motivation lies for 2016's word:
SOAR.

For me, it means freedom, flight, going higher and farther, and finally, seeing the pieces of my life come together in a beautiful picture that takes my breath away.  It is a new perspective that pulls everything together and reminds me how blessed I am, even in the messier/crazier times (as I know there will be some!) . . .

I am ready, and now it's time to fly!
